Rippling along, faster than the speed of -er-, whatever. I guess I am trying to say that I am ahead of schedule. I finished the June/July afghan. Here it is in all its eggplant and multi glory.
Here is another view, I don’t know if the first or this one is a better representation of the color. Purple is sure one hard color to get right on a photo and on a screen:
Not being content to just wait out the last days of the month without a project going, I decided to start on the August afghan.
This one is another from the 200 Ripple Stitch Patterns book. A straight granny stitch type called Storm Clouds. I just happened to pick storm cloud colors too. Black, grey heather and a beige with black, grey and brown flecks. So far everyone agrees that it is masculine looking. I am already about 1/3 done after only about 3 days, or is it 4? Anyway, this one is definitely fast, and I think I can safely say that I will be able to finish it in a month. I am making this one narrow, only 51 inches across. I will probably do 12-14 repeats, so it will be 60 inches long at least.
No big progress to report. Still plugging away at 2 afghans. One is very nearly complete (knit), the other one -crocheted squares- is going to be my travel piece. I decided to chart the rows because reading the directions was making me crazy.
Insert elegant segue here.
Fun = pets, pets=fun. Spencer aka "the doggie Lama" will stage himself to get maximum popcorn exposure. That usually means at the our feet, or leaning his head on our feet. WT managed to coax him onto the sofa to see what he would do. Here’s a shot – so intense!
It looks like he is trying to will the popcorn into his mouth.
Our cat Guinevere likes to keep us hopping – in and out all summer log. She has this trick of telling us when she wants back in. Jumps onto the outside stair rail, and bats at the window screen (or hangs onto it – lovely). It sometimes looks like she is waving hello. I caught her looking into the popcorn scene:
This afternoon WT, Chaachi and I are going to take in the new Harry Potter movie. Super bargain matinee – cheap(er)! I hope your afternoon is just as fun.
Squares that is, not whole afghans. Although sometimes it does feel like I have committed to doing something just not possible; nine-Nine-NINE whole afghans by 12/24/07 (we celebrate Christmas eve). And of those 9, 2 are going to Florida, so that really makes the deadline sooner.
I am almost done with the one I haven’t posted. I am still working on the June/July because it is still July. I have about 1/6 to 1/4 left to do – no problem. The issue with that one is that it is knit and getting too big to lug around. For some reason the crocheted ones are doable to the end; knit afghans need more support.
So I started the July/August one – which may be my July-December one because it is a granny square type – crochet. Here is the one down:
It is called, Starry Night, from 100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet. I am doing the Red Heart Super Saver yarn thing again, using the exact colors from the book. This one is for my sister Chaachi. She already knows I am doing it for her so it isn’t a secret. She even chose it! I love creating things that I know the giftee will love. No disappointment = all good.
How is it all going for you? Hope you are all healthy and happy or at least knowing that you are working toward those goals.
